The Event
Delta Zeta sorority, Fashion Business Association, and American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences sponsored the Cinderella Dress Exchange that was held on March 7, 2013. The Cinderella Dress Exchange has been held for the last three years at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg Missouri.  Gently used dresses are collected from college students and the local community. The exchange allows high school girls from all over Missouri to find formal dresses to wear to prom  for fifteen dollars or five canned goods. The canned goods are donated to the Warrensburg Food Pantry. This year over four hundred cans were collected.

Kay's Bridal and Tuxedo was one of the many vendors set up in the Union ball room
for the Cinderella Dress Exchange event.
The Exchange

On March 7, 2013 the Cinderella Dress Exchange started at four o'clock in the evening. Not only did Warrensburg High School girls come, but eighteen other high schools participated as well. There were vendors set up in the ball room at the University of Central Missouri, which included Impulse Boutique, The Change Jar, Woods Floral, Kay's Bridal and Tuxedo from Sedalia and several others. During the event, the Fashion Promotion and Visual Merchandising class from UCM put on a fashion show that included Warrensburg High School students wearing some of the donated dresses.  To read more about the fashion show visit our fashion show blog post  At the end of the exchange approximately one hundred twenty dresses were bought. This event gives high school girls a good way to get a prom dress without spending a fortune. As students, it makes us proud to participate and help girls in the community find a dream dress and make them feel like princesses.

Delta Zeta Soroity helped young ladies find and try on
dresses. They did their best to make every young lady
feel like a princess.
